PGL June 2026

What a fantastic first day we have had already here at PGL!

We kick started the day with a quick picnic lunch in the rain, followed by splitting off into our groups and having a go with some orienteering around the site and tackling Jacob's ladder. The children went in pairs and climbed together (we saw some excellent team work) up a huge wooden ladder with each rung spaced further and further apart. Only a few made it to the top, where they claimed the ladder as theirs, not Jacob's! We were very impressed by the teamwork and resilience.

After settling into our rooms, we went to dinner and had a tasty meal which has energised us for our evening activity of 'Balloon Splash.' The children are working together to earn coins for their treasure chests before trying to keep their balloons - filled with water - safe so that it doesn't burst!

We will go back to our rooms soon for some down time, but the children are shattered already after a busy afternoon so hopefully they sleep well....

What a fantastic and very busy second day we have had!

We started the morning with a surprise activity after being told it had been cancelled – canoeing! Nobody was expecting it, so everyone was really excited. Working in pairs, we paddled our canoes around the lake and had lots of fun trying to steer in the right direction. The best part was when we got the chance to jump into the water and swim around afterwards! We ended up with lots of very wet but very happy children.

Next, we put our brains to work with some problem-solving challenges. We had to work together as a team to solve different games and puzzles. Everyone showed great teamwork, communication and determination, and we were really impressed with how well the children tackled each challenge.

After a quick shower and change, we enjoyed another delicious lunch before heading off for an afternoon packed with adventure. First up was the giant swing! Lots of us felt a little nervous when we saw how high it was. We were harnessed in and then our friends helped pull us higher and higher before we were released to swing through the air. Although there were definitely some butterflies beforehand, everyone gave it a go. In fact, after their first turn, most children were asking to go even higher! We were so proud of the courage and determination shown by everyone.

Later, we took part in the sensory trail. This involved wearing blindfolds and trusting our teammates to guide us safely through an obstacle course. It was a great activity for building trust and teamwork, and there were plenty of laughs along the way.

After another filling dinner, we had some free time in our rooms where many children enjoyed playing with their new treasures from the gift shop and chatting with friends.

This evening, we are all snuggled up in the mini cinema watching Zootropolis 2 whilst enjoying some sweet treats. Afterwards, we will be heading back to our rooms to start packing up already – it’s hard to believe our residential is nearly over!

Tomorrow is our final day, and we are looking forward to taking on some climbing and archery tag before heading home with lots of wonderful memories.

Here’s hoping for another restful night’s sleep so we are full of energy for our last adventure together!
